Stop Arming Israel Week of Action 1st – 7th July 2017

Arms companies around the world are profiting from Israel’s brutal occupation of Palestine. Along with the banks that invest in them, these companies are on our doorsteps. We can take action to stop them; join us for a week of action from 1st to 7th July 2017, on the third anniversary of Israel’s 2014 attacks on the Gaza Strip.

Palestinian civil society has called for a comprehensive military embargo on Israel. Now is the time to heed the call for effective solidarity.

The UK and Israel have a close and profitable military relationship. The UK provides Israel with military and political support to continue with its repression of Palestinians and acts as a green light to further war crimes.

The UK is home to a number of arms factories which export weapons to Israel including 4 Elbit Systems factories: UAV systems in Shenstone; Instro Precison in Broadstairs, Ferranti in Oldham and Elite KL in Tamworth. Elbit Systems, one of Israel’s largest military companies, which markets its weapons as ‘field-tested’ on Palestinian bodies and land.

UK based banks, like HSBC, hold shares and provide loans to military and technology companies that sell weapons and equipment to Israel. HSBC’s complicity in Israel’s militarised oppression includes Elbit shares worth £3.64m.

This years marks 100 years of British complicity in the oppression of Palestinians and 50 years since the military occupation of the West Bank and Gaza.

In 2014 hundreds of thousands took to the streets and occupied Elbit factories in solidarity with the Palestinian people, raising the call to end UK-Israel arms trade. Since then the campaign for military embargo on Israel has continued to gain support.

Join us in intensifying our campaign to Stop Arming Israel, inspired by Palestinian resistance to oppression and struggle for justice.

  1. Take part in actions organised at Elbit factories around the UK.
  2. Demand that HSBC stops financing Israel’s militarised repression.
  3. Hold public meetings highlighting UK-Israel military complicity.

More info about events will be added to this facebook page.

  1. It is hardly surprising that the UK Government supports Israel. Our Government’s contempt for human rights issues is clear in a range of ways, including its threat to withdraw from international human rights protocols and its past support of terrorists regimes in Indonesia and parts of the Gulf. It’s worth going on with campaigns to try to change perceptions in government, but it will take a long time. We need to accept that we live in a fundamentally warlike state, hence the need for aircraft carriers, which are hardly needed for the defence of the realm.

  2. It’s disgusting that any financial institution uses the money we deposit for unethical investments. I shall be telling my children to swap their accounts and advising my son not to approach this organisation for his mortgage. They should be ashamed of themselves.

  3. Stop arming Israel. HSBC must stop funding Israel. BDS Boycott Divestment Sanction

  4. Israel should not be armed so they can do unbelievable harm to to Palestine. It is outrageous. HSBC must be stopped from providing funds.

  5. Have some dignity!
Stop arming the murderous israeli machine.

    Viva Palestina!

  6. I did my bit and closed my HSBC account which I had held for 29 years. Show no loyalty to those who profit from oppression and abuse.

  7. Israelis are the victims of thousands of rockets launched at them by palestinians, causing loss of innocent life and widspread trauma.
Many of it’s Arab neigbour do not recognise its right to exist and want to see the country gone from the region, believing the setting up of a separate state for the Jews in it’s ancestral homeland is an affront to Arab feeling.
Iran writes Israel on its missiles as its intended target, while regularly calling for the destruction of Israel.
Should arms sales to Israel be halted , the radical forces in the islamic world will be strengthened and see it as evidence that the ‘crusader state’ is on the way out.

emboldened radcial forces in the Islamic world will only rebound on the west with more islamist terror attacks.

this is not the way to go.
